Do you follow recipes exactly as they are written?

I used to.

Then, I realized that cooking was a lot more enjoyable when I tried out new ideas.

For example, when I make a sauce, it is different every time, and it is a great way to hide the vegetables from the kids!

When I posted on social media what I was putting into a sauce the other night, some people were surprised by some ingredients, but I will use most of what I have in the fridge.

Typically, I add fresh garlic, but I grabbed some from the store. Sometimes, I will add hamburger or chicken, but this time I left the meat out.

It’s always a win when the kids eat it all – and ask for more – especially when I was able to hide veggies!
