A few years ago, I was remodeling our home.
I really wish I would have taken more pictures. In this picture, I’d already started the renovation.
I was in Menards – a lot.
One day, as I walked to the paint aisle, I noticed some shiplap out of the corner of my eye.
I was tired of painting; I wanted to cheat and buy something prefinished.
It’s important to note that you buy this in other finishes and different lengths. We bought the barnwood option in 8′ for the bathroom and laundry space. For the kitchen, we purchased the 12′ option.
I always try to purchase during the frequent 11% off rebate time so that the boards are a little bit cheaper. (When I figured out the money and time spent painting, the cost wasn’t much different.)
Painting is a lot of work, and I had redone most of the house (and our prior house), so when I saw shiplap that was already finished – but with a really great farmhouse, chippy look – I was sold!
I started with the bathroom.
I loved it so much that I used it in the kitchen.
Finally, I loved the kitchen so much that I used it in the laundry room.
Here is the before:
We are starting!
We are finished!
There are plans to do a bit more to the laundry space.
Now, I say ‘I’ but I really have to give my husband the credit. He’s the one who gets to help with these projects.
We did invest in a nail gun, because it was worth the investment, and it creates a professional finish.
The laundry location has more to come, but I’m hoping this post may inspire you to update one of your rooms.
I have only done an accent wall in each room.
After our 11% rebate, the laundry room wall will cost under $70.
The bathroom wall wasn’t much more ($110).
Happy remodeling! Be sure to share your shiplap photos with me! (I’ve shared a couple of video clips below.)
And – for a little visual – here’s a video to show you just how easy it is:
My husband loves doing these projects.
