I’ve lost hours of my life organizing the bookshelf for the two youngest.

Not to mention, our two year old tends to tear apart the books with paper pages.

This is what the bookshelf looked like BEFORE I started:

Of course, a messy bookshelf is going to be an ongoing issue with littles, but I had to find a solution that would eliminate the daily removal of each book from the bookshelf.

When I started organizing, I ordered two of bins – one that says ‘books’ and one that says ‘toys’:

Books bin. – https://amzn.to/2VcJO2T

Toys bin – https://amzn.to/2UZN2Xe

I had to order a two more bins that said ‘books’ before I could finish. And yes, I’m true cleaning fashion the kids tore the room apart behind me while I organized the bookshelf.

Once the other bins arrived, it didn’t take long to organize them. I’m not sure how long this will last, but I wanted to attempt something to help.

Here is the AFTER picture:

In the bins, you’ll find books with paper pages. I want the kids to pull the board books off the shelf to read, but the real issue was the really nice books getting ripped up – and too many books to pick up each time!

If they start pulling the bins off the shelves, there’s an awesome bedroom closet with great upper shelving, so the bins can move there with the books with paper pages until they are a bit older – but out of sight, and I’m worried we won’t read them.

I’ll keep you posted. I’m really happy with how it turned out.

As always, I look for great prices, and these bins were only $13/bin.

Several people wanted to know where they can buy the bookshelf. We purchased this several years ago (on sale) at Pottery Barn Kids to display our daughter’s doll collection, but it was too small. It quickly became a bookshelf. I think this may be the bookshelf we have. It is very heavy duty and well made. (This is not a sponsored link.)

It is quite tall, and I did not they have smaller shelves as well.
