March’s Books for the Kids: Dr. Seuss

Scroll down to content

If you have followed for some time, you know that each month I try to focus on different books for the kids to experience and enjoy.

We are blessed to have a large book collection – gifts, garage sales, thrift stores, … if there’s a great book, I’ll grab it!

March is typically celebrated as March is Reading Month. It’s a month to share and celebrate a love of reading.

Many schools (elementary) will include books by Dr. Seuss (or focus on another author or theme). March is a celebration of Dr. Seuss’s birthday (March 2nd), along with a time to share and celebrate the books he’s written that children love.

This month, I chose to focus on Dr. Seuss books.

We have a large collection of Dr. Seuss books. You’ll notice the board books for toddlers. These are the best, because they are very durable. Babies and toddlers can be rough on books.

If you’re looking to start a collection of Dr. Seuss books, I’ve found a few ideas to help get you started.

1. Dr. Seuss’s Beginner Book Collection (Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish, Green Eggs and Ham, Hop on Pop, Fox in Socks) Box set

Extension Activity at Home: Since Dr. Seuss books have been made into movies, after finding time to read and enjoy a variety of his books, be sure to check out the movie versions as well. Take time to have a discussion about any similarities or differences between the books and movies (compare and contrast). This can be done formally or informally. Most importantly, have fun with reading! Extension activities are fun, but most importantly, finding the time to help a child fall in love with reading is the ultimate goal.

I share links as an Amazon Affiliate, but these are real purchases. The small commissions received help to pay for this website.
