Newborn Bath Essentials

Scroll down to content

It’s time to get prepared for baby’s arrival.

Let’s discuss newborn bath essentials.

For our first baby, we purchased a lot of baby items that we never used. I want to save you some money (and space), so I’ve created a list of the things you really need.

This time (baby four), I hope we have it narrowed down to the things we really need (and use).

First, let’s start with the newborn tub.

This time, we have purchased the Angel Baby Bath Support.

You can find the newborn tub here:

Of course, we love to give a bath in the sink, but our new place doesn’t have a great sink setup.

We did consider this (just to try), but we haven’t purchased one yet. A lot of our friends have one.

Here is the Blooming Bath link:

Unfortunately, the organic shampoo and body wash from the United Kingdom is no longer available in the US, so I’m on the hunt for a new, safe baby shampoo. Send me some ideas/favorites!

Next, our favorite baby rinsing cup.

This rinsing cup is the best – Might Clean Baby Shampoo Rinse Cup.

You can find the rinsing cup here:

Also, it’s important to check the temperature of the baby’s water.

What may feel okay to us – may be much too warm for a newborn.

I have always used the “elbow test” to see if the water feels just right for the baby. Let’s face it – it’s a great way to check but a thermometer would be safer (especially because you’re lacking hours of sleep).

Here is the baby water safety thermometer we are buying this time.

You can find it here:

The bath thermometer reminds me of a bath toy but skip the toys for now.

When you do choose bath toys – remember that there are a lot on the market that hold water and grow black mold – a major health hazard.

Our new baby washcloths are perfect – Matimati Baby Bamboo Washcloths.

You can find them here:

Finally, after the bath, get this soft, newborn hooded towel.

You can find it here:

(Ours sold out, so I gave a link to one similar.)

It has a lot of amazing features.

One feature that I love is that it dries without wiping.

This lasts a long time and through a lot of growth spurts.

I can see using this for pool (or beach) time, too.

Enjoy that beautiful newborn.

I will update with links (and photos) as we welcome baby #4.

Please keep in mind that I may receive very small commissions when you click on my links and make purchases within 24 hours; however, this does not impact my reviews & comparisons. I share links as an Amazon Affiliate, but these are real purchases. The small commissions received help to pay for this website.
