With each baby, breastfeeding gets a little bit easier – but it doesn’t.
Childbirth requires a lot of energy, and add in breastfeeding, and it can be very challenging – but worth it.
With each baby, it’s really confidence and experience with three prior babies that has helped things become a bit easier.
There are so many anecdotal tricks, and you better believe that a nursing mom will try almost anything to increase her supply.
For the first time, I’ve been making No Bake Lactation Bites.
It’s been said that many of the ingredients in this recipe may help increase your supply – brewer’s yeast, oatmeal, flax seed, peanut butter – so of course, I’m trying them out.
Ingredients:
– 1 c. old fashioned oatmeal
– 1 c. shredded coconut
– 1/2 c. peanut butter
– 1/2 c. ground flaxseed
– 1/2 c. chocolate chips
– 1/3 c. honey
– 1/2 T. Brewer’s Yeast
– 1 t. vanilla

Directions:
1. Place all ingredients into a mixing bowl and mix well. (Typically, I just mix these by hand. If you don’t mix by hand, wait until the end to add the chocolate chips.)
2. Cover and place in the fridge for an hour-and-a-half.
3. Remove from fridge and roll into bites for later. After rolling, I typically place them back into the fridge for another 30 – 45 minutes.

Depending on how large you roll these, this recipe yields 12 – 18 bites. If you plan on consuming them throughout the day (and night), you may want to double or triple the recipe.
Again, this isn’t necessarily something proven to increase your supply, but a lot of nursing mothers swear by these ingredients helping with supply.
For those looking for the Brewer’s Yeast, here is the brand I purchased.

The sacrifice is rough, but I guess I’ll eat a cookie to attempt to help with nursing results. 😉 Best of luck on your nursing journey.
